Where we are at post fire

January 31, 2024

It's been a very difficult 7+ months since the fire which basically destroyed our world occurred.

We are getting close to finalizing settlements with our insurance companies but it became pretty clear early on that we are under-insured for today's replacement costs.

As it stands we don't have anywhere near enough insurance money to go out and buy new equipment, build a new shop, replace inventory and get back up and running again.

We thought we were getting close to securing a deal on a used 5 axis CNC machine and other key pieces of equipment that were at a price point we could afford but unfortunately the whole deal fell apart and the equipment is no longer for sale.

We are suing the bus company that is responsible for starting the fire for losses beyond what our insurance covered but we have no idea when a settlement will occur and how much it will be so for now we have to be smart and work with what we have.

For the foreseeable future we will not being taking on any new work but will continue to finish jobs that were in process prior to the fire that are feasible to finish and those that are not we will refund the customers their deposits.

We are blessed with a lot of great friends locally who have opened up space in their shops to help us complete the work we can and also loan us the use of their equipment for cleaning and machining.

We're far from giving up on restarting SD Performance but until we have a shop of our own to work out of along with all the equipment we need to pickup where we left off we're just going to have to be patient and hopeful that all the pieces we need will fall into place in the next year or two so we can serve the Pontiac performance hobby for many years to come.

We want to thank all our great customers and friends for all the support we've received over the past 7+ months. A special thanks to all the customers who have work in the shop still, your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated and we're working hard to get things moving along with as many jobs as we can.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!!
